Pomegranate Extract - Water Based (Punica granatum )
The pomegranate ( Punica granatum ) is a fruit-bearing deciduous shrub. Red-purple in color, the pomegranate fruit husk has two parts: an outer, hard pericarp, and an inner, spongy mesocarp (white "albedo"), which comprises the fruit inner wall where seeds attach. Botanically, the edible fruit is a berry with seeds and pulp produced from the ovary of a single flower. The most abundant phytochemicals in pomegranate juice are polyphenols, including the hydrolyzable tannins called ellagitannins formed when ellagic acid and gallic acid bind with a carbohydrate to form pomegranate ellagitannins, also known as punicalagins.
Cosmetic Uses: Pomegranate Extract is suitable for a variety of skin care applications including lotions, soaps, skin creams and lip balms. Use it to enhance moisture and to include the properties of Cranberry in your formulations.
